How to Leverage Yourself in the Job Market Using Recruiters

The Truth Behind the Recruiting Industry

The information technology industry is back-and more competitive than ever. Employers are eagerly dusting-off IT projects that have been shelved for years. Demand for IT professionals is growing across the board, in industries as varied as pharmaceuticals, banking, retail, and manufacturing.

But employers learned their lesson from the dot com crash. They're hiring only the most seasoned, most creative IT talent they can find. In today's IT resurgence, staying ahead of the competition takes education, experience, and most important, a career plan. That means taking steps to advance your career, increase your expertise, and expand the type of jobs within your skill set. IT professionals who aren't constantly moving forward risk becoming a cheap commodity.

So what can you do to help differentiate yourself? One way is to work with recruiters, but the key is to work with the RIGHT recruiter. Finding the right recruiter can be pivotal to your success. Your goal should be to find one who focuses in your market segmentation and who understands you career goals, as well as your skill set and experience. But part of finding the right recruiter also means that you need to understand what your recruiter's goals are... whether it be filling an immediate job order, or truly working with you over time to support you in your career plan. This presentation will explain how to find the right recruiter for you, how to leverage yourself in this competitive job market using recruiters, and how to make your recruiter want to work for you.
